Ferris State Wraps Up Final Tune-Up For GLIAC Championships At DU Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field squads held their final tune-ups for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships on Saturday (April 30) as the Bulldogs took part in the Davenport Invitational held in Caledonia.

Ferris State's Brianna Copley earned runner-up honors in the discus (139-6) and placed third in the shot put (41-10.75). Emma Stephayn took fifth place in the discus (122-11).

The Bulldogs had three of the top nine finishers in the women's 1,500 meters with Sydney Kubiak fourth (4:50.98), Hanna Brock seventh (4:56.01) and Melanea Strauss ninth (5:01.37).

FSU's Claudia Wilkinson was eighth in the 100 hurdles (17.38) and also eighth in the high jump (4-9.75) while Danae Feldpausch came in ninth in the 800 meters (2:21.62).

The Bulldogs were also fourth in the women's 4x400-meter relay with the squad of Makayla Roberts, Feldpausch, Wilkinson and Daisy Englund clocking 4:33.13 in the race.

In the men's competition, the Bulldogs' Jason Keena came in second in the javelin (146-3) and Travis Feldpausch placed fifth (118-8).

Ferris State's Donis Harris placed fifth in the 1,500 meters (4:01.62) with Dan Hardesty seventh (4:08.19) in the race.

Meanwhile, Jake Zammitta finished seventh in the discus (123-5) with Kyle Drouillard eighth (117-1) in the discus and ninth in the hammer throw (139-2). Forrest Akers was 10th in the shot put (43-1.5) and 11th in the discus (111-1).

The Bulldogs' 4x400-meter relay tandem of Randall Kuch, Harris, Noah Jones and Ben Menapace came in fourth (3:36.81).

Ferris State will take part in the 2022 GLIAC Championships set for May 4-6 in Allendale.
