Ferris State Concludes Action At 2022 GLIAC Outdoor Track Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field squads concluded action at the 2022 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Friday (May 6) in Allendale.

The annual league championships were hosted by Grand Valley State and took place over three days on the GVSU campus.

Overall, Ferris State totaled 10 points in the men's competition and 16.50 points on the women's side in the league championships.

Ferris State's Brianna Copley placed fourth overall in the discus (43.33m) and Emma Stephayn was ninth (38.13m). Copley also finished seventh in the shot put (13.23m).

FSU's Hanna Brock earned fifth place in the 5,000 meters (17:45.53) with Sydney Kubiak finishing ninth (18:05.76) and Melanea Strauss 10th (18:21.66).

The Bulldogs' Danae Feldpausch placed sixth overall in the women's 800-meter finals (2:17.00) and Claudia Wilkinson tied for seventh in the high jump (1.53m).

The Ferris State women's 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Makayla Roberts, Daisy Englund, Kayla Guth and Feldpausch also placed ninth overall (4:13.42).

On the men's side, the Bulldogs' Donis Harris took fourth place in the 5,000 meters (14:48.42) with Brendan Cairney 14th (15:51.68) and Nathan Alford 16th (15:59.73).

FSU's Jake Zammitta finished 11th in the shot put (13.79m) with Forrest Akers 13th (13.35m). In the discus, Akers placed 13th (38.36m) and Zammitta was 15rth (36.60m).

Ferris State's men's 4x400-meter quartet of Randall Kuch, Noah Jones, Andrew Shafley and Ben Menapace came in eighth (3:30.29).

The Bulldogs are slated to send selected competitors back to GVSU for the Last Chance Meet on Tuesday (May 10) with a final opportunity to qualify for the NCAA D2 National Championships.
