Ferris State's Devin Dennison Finishes 18th In Hammer Throw At NCAA D2 National Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University sophomore thrower Devin Dennison (Alma) competed on Thursday (May 22) night in the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placing 18th overall in the hammer throw in Pueblo, Colo.

Dennison received a berth in the national championships in the men's hammer throw and came in with a best toss of 57.39 meters (188-3), closing out his first trip to the national finals.

The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced the participants for the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event. For each individual event contested, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted, and for the heptathlon and decathlon the top 16 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.

The championships took place in Pueblo at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl. Colorado State University Pueblo served as the host of the championships.

This season, Dennison earned runner-up honors in the hammer throw at the 2025 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships held May 1-2 in Allendale. He recorded a NCAA qualifying throw of 193-6 at the league championships with the school's fourth-best all-time effort ever. He also placed third in the discus (159-1) at the conference meet, earning All-GLIAC accolades in both events.

Dennison helped the Bulldogs' men's and women's squads combine for their best overall effort at the league championships this spring in nearly two decades.
