Ferris State Cross Country Squads Race In Michigan State Spartan Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams took part in the annual Michigan State Spartan Invitational on Friday (Sept. 16) in East Lansing, Mich.

The annual event at Forest Akers East Golf Course ranks as one of the largest events in the state and included collegiate institutions from a number of Michigan and regional schools such as Michigan State, Michigan, Grand Valley State, Southern Indiana, Hillsdale, Saginaw Valley State and more, along with unattached athletes.

In the women's race, Ferris State captured sixth place overall in the Division II team race according to unofficial results.

The Bulldogs were led by junior Jessica Delaney, who finished 46th overall with a time of 23:04 on the day. 

Bulldog freshman Kathryn Etelamaki came in 69th (23:29), freshman Kensington Garvey placed 82nd (23:39), sophomore Jordan Lee took 107th place (23:52), senior Racheal McDonald was 135th (24:25) and junior Kelly Babcock finished 136th (24:26) in the competition while leading the Bulldogs.

In the men's race, Ferris State was led by junior Trevor Holowaty in 78th place with a time of 26:18 in the race. Senior Logan Hammer was close behind in 82nd place (26:22) with senior Kyle Richardson finishing 95th (26:32) overall.

Bulldog sophomore Casey Neal came in 102nd (26:39), junior Hunter Nivison placed 128th (27:09) and sophomore Damien Halverson took 151st place (27:31).

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Oct. 1 when they take part in the Greater Louisville Classic in Kentucky.
