Ferris State Cross Country Resumes Fall Slate At Highly-Competitive Conference Crossover

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams resumed their fall slate on Saturday (Oct. 7) as they took part in the highly-competitive Conference Crossover hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.

The Bulldog women placed 19th overall in a large team field while the men's squad finished 23rd. More than 30 teams took part in the event from various schools throughout the region.

Senior Trevor Holowaty paced the Bulldog men as he came in 56th overall in a time of 25:55.3 on the day. FSU's Damien Halverson was next in line in 101st place at 26:35.1 while Zach Mckenzie finished 172nd in the field with a clocking of 27:13.7.

Bulldog freshman Mark Jacobs placed 226th for FSU at 27:49.1 with Gage Clevland and Aaron Jarema finishing back-to-back in 238th and 239th place with respective times of 27:59.2 and 28:00.0.

Meanwhile, the FSU women were led by sophomore Kathryn Etelamaki, who placed 24th in scoring position with a time of 22:27.0 overall.

Ferris State's Natalie Perry was 126th (23:55.0) followed by Kelly Babcock a few places back in 129th place (23:58.9).

FSU's Carissa Schurr finished 140th (24:04.0) with Abigail Johnson taking 159th place (24:18.9).

The meet was a final tuneup for the Bulldogs as they next head to the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships set for Saturday, Oct. 21, in Marquette, Mich.
