Ferris State Cross Country Produces Four All-GLIAC Honorees At Conference Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams had a successful day at the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships as the Bulldogs took part in the annual league event on Saturday (Oct. 21) in Marquette.

The Bulldogs plaecd fourth of 11 schools on the men's side with 144 points while the women raced to a fifth-place performance in a highly-competitive 12-team field in the Upper Peninsula.

Ferris State had a pair of All-GLIAC selections on both the men's and women's sides based on their respective finishes at the league championships.

FSU senior Trevor Holowaty paced the Bulldog men as he came in ninth overall in a time of 25:25.5 on the 8K course to claim all-league first team honors.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs' Damien Halverson was a second-team all-conference choice by placing 15th at 26:12.4 in the race.

On the women's side, Ferris State sophomore Kathryn Etelamaki took 10th place in a time of 22:18.6 to garner first-team laurels at the GLIAC Championships. Teammates Natalie Perry was a second-team honoree after coming in 20th at 23:38.6 overall.

Overall, Ferris State had a total of five men's runners finish in the top 50 overall with the women netting a total of seven among the top 50 runners in the race.

Ferris State will next take part in the 2017 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships slated for Saturday, Nov. 4, in Cedarville, Ohio.
