Ferris State Cross Country Squads Win 44th Annual Ray Helsing Bulldog Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams hosted the 2018 Ray Helsing Bulldog Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 8) at FSU's Katke Golf Course.

Both the Ferris State men's and women's teams finished first in the collegiate team competition.

In the men's race, the Bulldogs had the top eight finishers overall. Senior Damien Halverson emerged as the individual champion in a time fo 27:33.9 overall.

Meanwhile, FSU's Aaron Jarema clocked 28:11.09 in placing second with Mark Jacobs coming in third at 28:14.0 in the race. Ferris State's Zach Mckenzie finished fourth (28:29.5) with Donis Harris fifth (29:03.8) in the competition.

In the women's race, the Bulldogs had five runners place among the top 10 overall. Kathryn Etelamaki finished first (18:57.5) with Paige Deitering fourth (20:21.9) and Jennifer Eaton seventh (20:30.9).

FSU's Kensington Garvey took eighth place (20:34.8) with Sydney Dawes ninth (20:34.8).

Saturday's running was the 44th annual event hosted by the Bulldogs and marked FSU's lone home competition of the year.

Ferris State returns to action on Friday, Sept. 14, at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational in East Lansing.
