Ferris State Cross Country Teams Picked Near Middle In GLIAC Preseason Polls

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads have both been picked to finish near the middle of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as the league unveiled its 2019 Preseason Coaches Polls on Tuesday.

The Bulldog women's team was picked sixth overall with 73 total points in voting by the conference head coaches while the FSU men were eighth with 31 points in the preseason listing.

Defending conference champion Grand Valley State was tabbed first in both polls with 121 points in the women's rankings and 100 in the men's tabulation.

The Bulldogs will host the 45th annual Ray Helsing Bulldog Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 7, at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.

The women's collegiate 5,000-meter race is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. (ET) and will be followed by the men's collegiate 8,000-meter event at approximately 10 a.m. (ET). Two high school races will also be a part of the invitational schedule with the prep girls 5,000 meters set to start at 10:45 a.m. (ET) proceeded by the boys 5,000 meters at 11:30 a.m. (ET).

The invitational is open to the public and admission is free of charge.
