Bulldog Cross Country Races Strong At MSU Spartan Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads took part in one of their biggest competitions of the year on Friday (Sept. 13) as FSU competed in the 2019 Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State University in East Lansing.

The 39th annual event, which is sponsored by Auto Owners Insurance, took place at Forest Akers East Golf Course, and included runners from across the region from schools such as Michigan State, Grand Valley State, Oakland University, Bowling Green State, Ashland University, Calvin University and more representing a large field.

Ferris State finished 15th overall on the men's side with sophomore Donis Harris finishing 86th for the Bulldogs in the 8k race with a time of 26:52.7. Junior Aaron Jarema finished 109th at 27:10.8. Junior Weston Rackley finished in 134th at 27:32.6 with freshman Brandon Wirth in 145th at 27:41.7.

On the women's side, senior Kathryn Etelamaki was Ferris State's top finisher in 28th place on the 6k course at 22:39.8, finishing 10th out of runners from Division II. Sophomore Paige Deitering finished 86th as Ferris State's second finisher at 23:59.6. Sophomore Hannah Loucks finished 103rd at 24:17.9 with Kylie Hutchinson close behind in 108th at 24:21.5.

Ferris State is back in action when the Bulldogs return to Lansing on Friday, Oct. 4, for the Lansing Invitational.
