Ferris State Cross Country Teams Back In Action At Michigan State Spartan Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams saw action on the road for the first time in nearly two years as the Bulldogs competed in the annual Michigan State Spartan Invitational on Friday (Sept. 17) in East Lansing, Mich.

The event annually features many of the top runners and teams from across the region at all levels with such schools as MSU, FSU, Youngstown State, Toledo, Grand Valley State, Indianapolis and more in the field.

In the men's 8K race, the Bulldogs' highest finisher was junior Donis Harris, who clocked 27:01.2 on the course for 76th place. Sophomore Brandon Wirth was only two spots behind in 78th place at 27:02.0.

FSU freshman Noah Griffith came in 89th (27:10.6) with Dan Hardesty 137th (28:03.9) and Ethan Hamilton 142nd (28:08.6) among the Bulldogs' top five finishers.

On the women's side, Sydney Kubiak paced the Bulldogs with a time of 24:44.1 overall, which was good for 108th in the 6K event. Teammate Hanna Brock was next in line at 24:48.4, finishing 112th in the field.

Meanwhile, Melanea Strauss came in 114th (24:51.4) with Amelia Topolinski 136th (25:20.4) and Callie Delaney 141st (25:24.9) out of  the Bulldogs' top five finishers.

Ferris State will next compete the weekend of Oct. 1-2 with selected runners taking part in the Lansing Community College Invitational or the Greater Louisville Classic.
