FSU Softball Splits With Hillsdale On Saturday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team split a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader versus Hillsdale on Saturday (April 7) afternoon to wrap up a four-game league home series in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs took game one by a 4-0 count off a no-hitter from junior pitcher Dana Bowler before the Chargers came back to pull out a 2-1 triumph in the second contest.

With the split, the Bulldogs captured three of four games in the two-day conference series at the FSU Varsity Softball Field.

The Bulldogs had 10 hits in the opener to none for the Chargers as Bowler struck out nine Hilldale batters and walked none over seven innings.  FSU scored twice in the second and added single runs in the third and fourth innings en route to the victory.

Morgan Kramerich paced FSU with three hits in game one while Chelsea Morris doubled twice and Michelle Tononi homered.

In the second game, the Chargers broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth. They had seven hits to six for the Bulldogs.

Makenzi Peterson tripled for FSU in the second contest as all six Bulldog hits came from six different batters.

FSU currently owns a 16-18 overall mark and is now 7-9 to date in league competition.

The Bulldogs are next in action at Lake Superior State for a doubleheader on April 10 beginning at 3 p.m. (ET).
