Bulldog Softball Tryouts Slated For Sept. 9 At FSU Softball Field

Foster To Leave Bulldog Softball Program; Thompson To Serve As Interim Head Coach

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University Athletics Department has announced the departure of head softball coach Marie Foster, who has resigned to pursue another collegiate coaching opportunity. Her last official day at FSU will be on Aug. 28. With her departure, Dawn Thompson, who has been a member of the Bulldog coaching staff for the last five years, will serve as the program's interim head coach starting on Aug. 29 until a permanent successor can be found.
Ferris State Softball Golf Outing Set For August 24 @ Katke Golf Course

The annual Ferris State University Softball Golf Outing will be held Saturday, August 24, at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich. All Bulldog fans and friends are invited to take part in the four-person scramble, which serves as one of the program's fundraising events. The 18-hole outing will begin with registration at 9 a.m., and a 9:45 a.m. rules meeting followed by 18 holes of golf and dinner.

Former Bulldog Dana Bowler To Serve As Celebrity Pitcher For 26th Annual Old Timers/Hall of Fame Contest

Big Rapids, Mich. - Former Ferris State University softball standout pitcher Dana Bowler (Lockport, Ill.), who wrapped up her collegiate career as an all-region honoree after leading the Bulldogs to the NCAA Division II Tournament this past spring, will serve as a celebrity picher for the 26th annual Old Timers/Mecosta County Area Sports Hall of Fame Game that will be played in Big Rapids on Wednesday, July 3.

Ferris State University softball junior standout Amy Dunleavy (Canton) has been named to the 2013 Capital One Division II Academic All-America Second Team. The 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Softball Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The teams are nominated and chosen by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
