Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University softball junior outfielder Paige Kortz (Brooklyn/Napoleon) has been named to the 2020 Google Cloud Academic All-District Softball Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The academic all-district teams recognize the top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. They are chosen by sports information directors across the country.

Kortz, who holds a perfect grade point average in accountancy/finance at FSU, was one of only two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) products tabbed to the all-district team along with Grand Valley State outfielder Brooke Henning.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with first and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in June.

A three-year Bulldog starter and letterwinner, Kortz played in all 18 games of a shortened 2020 campaign and finished with a team-leading 13 RBI's on 22 hits, which ranked second among the squad's leaders. She also compiled a pair of doubles and drew six walks while stealing five bases. Her .379 batting average was the unit's best.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District teams include the student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 DII and DIII Academic All-America teams.
