Ferris State Softball Announces Addition Of Seven Prep Standouts
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball program has bolstered its lineup for the future as head coach Kristin Janes today announced the names of seven prep standouts who have signed to join the Bulldogs starting this fall.
All seven are in-state standouts and will begin their freshmen campaigns during the 2020-21 academic year.
The group of seven includes utility player Kacey Bouche (Mattawan), pitcher McKenzie Cleland (Carleton/Airport), catcher/third baseman Dakota Cloutier (Escanaba), utility player Katelyn Gabos (Boyne City), pitcher/first baseman Aryn Gallacher (Rochester Hills/Rochester), outfielder/utility Abby Mitchell (Caledonia) and utility player Josie Prince (Big Rapids).
"We are extremely excited to add these seven fantastic ladies to our program and Bulldog family," said Janes. "They each bring a strong, successful softball and academic background and with them. I believe their individual talents, both on and off the field, will be amazing additions to our program and make a significant impact on our team.
This past spring, the Bulldogs won two of their final three games during Janes' third season at the helm and were closing out their annual trip to The Spring Games in Florida when the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Previously, FSU reached the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament for the fourth consecutive year in 2019. Overall, the Bulldogs had made eight trips to the NCAA Tournament in school history and won 24 games or more 11 times in the previous 16 years prior to this spring.
