Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team closed out the regular-season in strong fashion as the Bulldogs posted a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home sweep over visiting Parkside on Sunday (May 1) at the FSU Softball Field.

The Bulldogs received a walk-off home run from senior Paige Kortz in the fifth inning for a 10-1 win in the opener and came up with an 11-5 victory in game two, totaling 21 runs in the final two home contests of the year.

With the two wins, the Bulldogs secured the six seed for next week's GLIAC Tournament and finished the regular-season having won six of their final eight contests, including four of five at home during the weekend homestand.

FSU then added four runs in the fifth to finish the shortened game, including a three-run shot by Kortz to right field in walk-off fashion for her school single-season record 12th round tripper of the year.

The Rangers cut the margin down to 9-3 with a pair of runs in the third and made it a 9-5 difference with two more in the sixth, but FSU responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth and shut down UWP in the seventh for the victory, which was its fourth over Parkside in as many tries this season.
