Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior centerfielder Paige Kortz (Brooklyn/Napoleon) has added yet another honor to her list of accomplishments by being recognized as a 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region Second Team selection.

Kortz, who was honored previously as a 2022 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region selection, was featured among 26 student-athletes from across the region honored this year. A total of 13 were named to the first-team all-region squad with another 13 chosen as second-team picks.

She previously was also named to the NFCA Division II All-Midwest Region squad in 2021 and earned all-region accolades this season for the third consecutive year.

The Midwest Region includes all programs from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted on the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2022 NFCA Division II All-America squads.

Earlier this week, Kortz was also named to the 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District IV First Team for her performance on the field and in the classroom this past season.

A first-team All-GLIAC choice this year, Kortz led the Bulldogs this season and ranked among the GLIAC leaders in numerous statistical categories after hitting .383 on the year. She produced 62 hits and drove in 40 runs in 51 games while notching a school single-season record 12 home runs in addition to seven doubles and two triples. She also posted a .673 slugging percentage and stole nine bases for FSU while scoring 45 total runs.

This year also marked the third season in her career in which Kortz garnered All-GLIAC First Team accolades.

Ferris State concluded the 2022 campaign by reaching the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals. The bulk of the Bulldog roster is eligible to return next season following a year in which FSU won 19 games and picked up the program's first postseason win since 2016.
