FSU Women Drop League Opener At Tiffin

Tiffin, Ohio - Unbeaten Tiffin established an early lead and beat the Ferris State Bulldogs by a 78-49 count in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opener for both teams at TU's Gillmor Center on Thursday (Dec. 1) night in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Dragons built a 40-28 halftime lead and extended the margin to 48-29 only three minutes into the second half.  They never looked back in posting the decisive win.

With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 2-2 overall.  TU improved to 4-0 on the year in the first conference game for both squads.

The Bulldogs were paced by sophomore guard Sarah DeShone with 13 points while senior guard Tricia Principe tallied 10 points.

FSU shot only 34% from the floor and turned the ball over 24 times.

Meanwhile, Tiffin had four players reach double-figure scoring and converted 40% of its field goals, including a nine-of-23 (39.1%) showing from beyond the arc.  Jennifer Johnson paced TU with 15 points while both Mandy Jaeb and Karli Mast netted 12 points each.

Tiffin had a significant edge at the free throw line where they were 21-of-29 (72.4%) overall compared to FSU's eight-of-12 (66.7%) showing.

The Bulldogs owned a slim 39-37 rebounding margin for the game.

Ferris State will wrap up its two-game road trip to Ohio by visiting Ohio Dominican for the first-time ever on Saturday, Dec. 3, with tipoff set for 1 p.m. (ET) in Columbus, Ohio.
