Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action with a convincing 68-51 triumph over Wayne State on the road Thursday (Nov. 29) night in Detroit.
The Bulldogs trailed by two points at the end of the opening period, but outscored WSU 19-6 in the second frame to take control en route to the win. FSU also held a 22-12 margin in the third period while putting the game away against the Warriors in improving to 4-2 overalll this season.
Junior forward Lilly George scored a team-high 18 points for FSU in the win while junior center Brayene Benner added 13 points and senior guard Alexis Bush totaled 10 points.
FSU hit on 50% of its field goals and went five-of-16 (31.3%) from three-point range along with seven-of-11 (63.6%) at the free throw stripe.
The Bulldogs limited Wayne State to 29.9% shooting and a five-of-16 (31.3%) three-point showing in addition to a six-of-14 (42.9%) effort at the line.
FSU owned a 42-40 rebounding edge and forced 17 turnovers in the victory while coming up with 21 assists and nine steals.
The Bulldogs will visit nationally top-ranked Ashland on Saturday (Dec. 1) for a 1 p.m. (ET) conference tilt inside AU's Kates Gymnasium in Ashland, Ohio.
