Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad will take part in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament for the fourth consecutive year as the Bulldogs travel to face Parkside on Tuesday (March 2) night for a league first-round game in Kenosha, Wis.

The ninth-seeded Bulldogs will square off against the eighth-seeded Rangers at DeSimone Gymnasium with tipoff slated for 4 p.m. (ET).

Ferris State owns a current 6-12 overall record to date this season under first-year head coach Kurt Westendorp. Meanwhile, Parkside heads into the opening round with an 9-9 overall ledger.

The semifinals are slated for Friday evening and the championship game is on Sunday in Indiana. The top four seeded teams all received opening round byes, including #1 Michigan Tech, #2 Grand Valley State, #3 Northwood and #4 Saginaw Valley State. The remaining teams will be reseeded following Tuesday's first-round.

The winner of the GLIAC Tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament slated to be held March 12-15 in Springfield, Mo.

Ferris has posted a 11-16 overall record in 17 previous league women's basketball tournament appearances and will be making its fourth-straight appearance in the field after making its first since the 2012-13 campaign back in 2018. FSU has finished as the tournament runner-up three times and reached the semifinal round in eight of its 17 previous trips to the league event.

Last year, the Bulldogs narrowly fell 78-76 at home to Wayne State in the quarterfinal round after claiming the GLIAC North Division Championship. FSU went on to receive the school's first NCAA Division II Tournament berth since 2012 before the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
