Limited Spots Remain For This Friday's Inaugural Ferris State Women's Basketball Golf Outing

Big Rapids, Mich. - Limited spots remain for this Friday's (June 18) inaugural Ferris State University women's basketball golf outing, which will be held at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.

The event will give the Bulldogs' an opportunity to engage Sixth Dawg Club members, alumni and community supporters and friends while helping raise funds to support the women's basketball program in their quest to achieve championship success.

The four-person scramble is only $85 per person and includes a post-round reception. Any golfers not in a foursome will be paired with fellow golfers and current Bulldog student-athletes will be on the course for fun games and to interact with participants.

The event begins with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. (ET) and a shotgun start set for 10 a.m. (ET) at Katke Golf Course.

Additionally, tee sponsorships are available for those individuals or businesses willing to support the program for only $100 and include prominent signage on a tee box and post-round reception recognition. Corporate sponsorships are also available for $400 for those who would like to enter a foursome and support a hole.

Ferris State's Katke Golf Course ranks among the finest University-owned golf courses in the United States. The course covers over 6,847 yards and is the highest point in Mecosta County, helping to define the scenic West Michigan landscape. Katke has won the Mecosta Country Peoples' Choice Awards for favorite golf range and favorite golf course in the area in recent years.

Designed by Robert Beard, Katke Golf Course opened for public play in 1974. The golf course has undergone some major renovations since 2004. Katke is a true test for any caliber of player.

The Bulldog women's basketball program completed its first season under head coach Kurt Westendorp in 2020-21 and is expected to return its entire roster for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign, including three players with starting experience who missed the entire season this past winter.
