Ferris State Dominates From Start To Finish In Decisive Home Win Over Lake Superior State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad put together a full performance on Thursday (Jan. 20) night as the Bulldogs rolled over Lake Superior State by a 90-38 score inside Jim Wink Arena.

FSU dominated play from the outset, building a 29-13 edge after the opening period, and never looked back in improving to 13-4 overall and 7-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Bulldogs shot 51.5% from the floor and forced 24 turnovers while posting a 52-point victory over Lake Superior State, which was playing its first game in more than a month. FSU outscored the Lakers 22-4 in points off turnovers and 18-2 on the break in racing to the win.

Four Bulldog standouts reached double-figure scoring and all 11 players in uniform played at least 11 minutes and scored in the triumph.

FSU was led by senior guard Adrienne Anderson's 16-point effort while the combination of senior guard Samantha Krauss and freshman forward Mya Hiram both totaled 15 points each off the bench. Sophomore Kadyn Blanchard added 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State moved the ball extremely well, notching 31 assists on 35 baskets, including a game-high 10 from junior point guard Mallory McCartney. Nine different players had at least one assist and six notched three or more in the game.

The Bulldogs also outrebounded LSSU 37-26 for the night and came down with 10 offensive boards while outscoring the Lakers 11-3 in second chance production. FSU also held a 36-24 edge in points scored inside the paint.

Defensively, the Bulldogs held Lake Superior State to 36.6% shooting with LSSU going only one-of-10 (10%) from long range and seven-of-16 (43.8%) at the free throw stripe. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs connected on 12-of-22 (54.5%) three's and made all eight of their free throw attempts.

The Lakers, who fell to 2-9 overall and 1-4 in the GLIAC, were led by Mattison Rayman with 13 points. Makenzie Bray added 12 points in the setback.

The Bulldogs' bench outscored the Lakers' reserves by a 45-5 count for the contest.

Ferris State will open a three-game road stretch next week by visiting Northwood on Monday (Jan. 24) night with the league tilt set for a 6 p.m. (ET) tip in Midland.
