Ferris State Drops Tight League Road Contest At Northwood In Women's Action

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad opened up a three-game league road stretch with a close 70-65 setback to the Northwood Timberwolves on Thursday (Jan. 24) night in Midland.

The two teams battled back and forth for much of the game before NU hit several critical late free throws to garner the win.

FSU fell to 13-5 overall and 7-3 in the GLIAC with the setback while Northwood moved to 11-6 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

The road tilt marked the Bulldogs' final conference visit to Northwood before NU leaves for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference next season.

Senior guard Adrienne Anderson led four FSU players in double-figure scoring with 16 points in the contest. Kadyn Blanchard added 12 points while both Zoe Anderson and Chloe Idoni contributed 11 points each.

The Timberwolves were led by Mackenzie Todd with a game-high 23 points. Senior Ellie Taylor added 21 points for NU, which shot 37% from the floor and made 17-of-25 (68%) free throws.

The Bulldogs were outrebounded 45-38 for the game as NU grabbed nine offensive rebounds in the contest. FSU also was held to 38.1% shooting and went nine-of-30 (30%) from long range along with eight-of-12 (66.7%) at the stripe.

The contest was tied up 31-31 at halftime before FSU outscored NU 16-11 in the third. However, Northwood fought back and the two teams traded baskets down the stretch before the Timberwolves' final surge.

Ferris State will visit Saginaw Valley State on Thursday (Jan. 27) for a 6 p.m. (ET) league matchup in Detroit, continuing a three-game GLIAC road swing.
