Dawgs Roar Past Timberwolves To Open Three-Game Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball team scored a 25-point victory, 88-63 over the Northwood Timberwolves on Monday (Feb. 14) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play inside Jim Wink Arena 

Ferris State used a plus 22 margin in the first and third quarters combined to race past the Timberwolves, hitting 10 triples en route to victory. Ferris State had six scorers in double digits including all five starters. Bulldog junior forward Chloe Idoni registered a double-double on a team-best 19 points and 10 rebounds to go with three steals.

In the Bulldog starting lineup, senior forward Zoe Anderson scored 19 to tie for the team and game-lead in point scoring while senior guard Adrienne Anderson had 13 points. Ferris State sophomore guard Kadyn Blanchard had 12 points to go with six assists, freshman forward Mya Hiram added 11 points off the bench and junior guard Mallory McCartney picked up 10 points to go with nine assists and six steals.

The Bulldogs got to the line and were efficient, hitting 84.2 percent of their shots, making 16 free throws to Northwood's nine on the night. The Bulldogs also took care of the basketball, tossing out 26 assists, and turned the Timberwolves over 20 times with 13 steals. Consequently, Ferris State outscored Northwood 25-11 in points off of turnovers. Northwood registered just one steal on the night.

The Timberwolves were led in scoring by Makenzie Todd's 16 points in the game. Northwood narrowly won the rebound battle 40-39 in the contes, though Ferris State held a 15-12 edge in offensive boards.

Ferris State went north of 80 points for the first time since a 90-point outing on January 20 as their offense revved up Monday night. Six of Ferris State's 12 triples came in the second half as the Bulldogs pulled away.

With the win, Ferris State moved to 11-5 in league action with 33 standings points - putting them alone in second place, three points ahead of Wayne State.

The Bulldogs hit the road to take on the Parkside Rangers on Thursday (Feb. 17) at 6:30 p.m. (ET) in GLIAC play in Kenosha, Wis.
