Fast Start Gives Parkside Home Win Over Bulldogs In GLIAC Tilt

Big Rapids, Mich. - Host Parkside bolted out to a quick start and came away with a 79-66 win over the Ferris State University women's basketball squad on Thursday (Feb. 2) night in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at DeSimone Gymnasium in Somers, Wis.

The Bulldogs fell behind 22-13 after the opening 10 minutes as the Rangers shot a blistering percentage from deep early on and eventually claimed a double-digit advantage. FSU trimmed the lead down to four points in the first half, but could get no closer despite outscoring UWP 14-5 in the final period.

The setback came despite a game-high 28 points and nine rebounds from senior forward Chloe Idoni for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Kenzie Bowers added 17 points as FSU fell to 13-8 overall and 6-6 in the GLIAC.

The Rangers finished shooting 12-of-25 (48%) from long range and 44.3% from the floor in the win. They were led by Paty Gallasova with 21 points and Alyssa Nelson with 17 points.

While Parkside shot extremely well, FSU converted only 35% of its field goals and went four-of-25 (16%) from long range in the road setback. Ferris State was also out rebounded 44-35 for the night, but the Bulldogs had only eight turnovers.

The win lifted Parkside to 14-8 overall and 9-3 in league play.

Ferris State will look to bounce back on Saturday (Feb. 4) as FSU faces Purdue Northwest starting at 2 p.m. (ET) in Hammond, Ind.
