Final Round Of 2010 GLIAC Women's Golf Championships Cancelled

This Sunday's (April 25) final round of the 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Golf Championships held at Ferris State University's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich., has been cancelled as a result of rain and unplayable course conditions.

Ferris State finished the conference tournament with a third-place showing as the Bulldogs registered a two-round 628 team score (+52) in Saturday's (April 24) opening two rounds.  FSU turned in identical rounds of 314 and was 34 strokes behind 2010 GLIAC Champion Grand Valley State (594, +18).

This season's league tourney showing marks the second year in a row in which Ferris State has captured third-place honors.  The Bulldogs were third at the 2009 GLIAC Women's Golf Championships (April 26-27) following a 69-strokes over par 645 team stroke total at Grand Valley State's The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.  Grand Valley State also claimed top team accolades at last year's conference tournament.

The Bulldogs, under third-year head coach Mike Mignano, will now await a bid to the 2010 NCAA Division II Super Regional One to be conducted May 2-4 at the Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo.  The 2010 NCAA-II Championships are set for May 12-15 at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
