Emily Rohdy To Play Women's Golf At Ferris State

Ferris State University women's golf head coach Mike Mignano has announced the signing of Emily Rohdy (Farwell) to a National Letter of Intent and play for the Bulldogs, starting with this 2010 fall season.

Rohdy, who inked with Ferris State during the late signing period in April, is a two-time first-team all-state selection and a Michigan Wendy's Heisman Award representative at Farwell (Mich.) High School.

"Emily is a very bright, talented and outstanding student-athlete," said Mignano, who's currently in his third season at Ferris State.  "She has been very involved in many high school activities, excelled in golf, basketball, and track, all while maintaining a 3.96 cumulative grade point average.  We're very excited for Emily to be a Bulldog this fall and I look for her to have an immediate impact on our program.

"Emily displays a tremendous amount of maturity and dedication to her golf game, while also balancing all that she does off the golf course. That is a very important trait and her work ethic will allow her to continue to achieve whatever she sets her mind to," added Mignano.

Rohdy has been a standout performer on the links with all-state first-team honors both as junior and senior after attaining honorable mention all-state kudos in her sophomore year.  She was the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division IV fourth-place medalist at the state tournament as a senior and carded a tourney low round of 77 strokes on the second day of play.  As a junior, Rohdy achieved eighth-place honors at the MHSAA Division III tournament and finished 21st at the state tourney in her sophomore year.  The MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award finalist also was the regional champion in both her junior and senior seasons for the Eagles.

Rohdy is a member of the top 50 Junior Tour and the Clare Area Junior Golf Association.  She picked up Central Michigan Player of the Year laurels through the Midwest 50 Junior Golf Tour in the summer prior to her senior year after completing the summer golf season with a tournament stroke average of 78 while chalking up first-place medalist honors in six of the seven tournaments which she participated in.

Besides golf, Rohdy has also competed in track as a junior and senior along with basketball, and softball (ninth and 10th grades).  She presently is the school's record holder in three sports - golf (lowest 18 hole score - 74, lowest nine-hole score - one-under par 35, lowest average score, and lowest team score), basketball (most three-point field goals made in a game - seven and most three-point field goals made in a season - 52), and track (pole vault).

Academically, Rohdy as served as class vice president, student council treasurer, National Honor Society treasurer, a member of the Student Athlete Leadership Team, and school newspaper (The Talon) editor.  She also earned the Principal's Leadership Award along with being chosen as the school's Queen and Prom Queen in her senior year.  Rohdy has also been involved in volunteer work for Project Christmas, Relay for Life, and Blood Drive.

Rohdy, the daughter of Gary and Amy Rohdy of Farwell, will graduate this spring from FHS with high honors and plans to major in professional golf management at Ferris State.

She joins Jacqueline DeBoer (Grand Rapids/South Christian) as the current members to comprise the Bulldogs' 2010 recruiting class.
