Brooke Rodes Named 2009-10 FSU Women's Golf Team Captain

Sophomore Brooke Rodes (Traverse City/West) of the Ferris State University women's golf team has been chosen to serve as team captain for this upcoming 2009-10 season as announced by third-year FSU women's golf head coach Mike Mignano.

Rodes averaged 86.40 strokes a round (432 total strokes) in five rounds last season.  She recorded a personal season-best second-place performance at the Siena Heights Invitational (Oct. 4) in Redford, Mich., with an 85-stroke total as the Bulldogs took top team honors among the six participants by carding a 358 team score.

The 2008-09 nationally-ranked Ferris State women's golf team would go on to make its ninth national tournament appearance and sixth consecutive to date in the program's history as the Bulldogs finished tied for sixth place at the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championships (May 13-16) at Findlay, Ohio.

"Brooke has displayed unquestionable dedication to the Ferris State Women's Golf Program and her teammates," said Mignano.  "She will provide the leadership necessary both on and off the golf course to help us reach our goal of winning a national championship."

Ferris State will open its 2009-10 season this Saturday (Sept. 5), hosting the annual Ferris State Bulldog Invitational at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.
