Ferris State's DeBoer Tied For 39th In NCAA Championships Play

The old adage goes, "It's now how you start, but how you finish."

Ferris State University freshman Jacqueline DeBoer (Grand Rapids/South Christian) will focus on performing at her best entering this Saturday's (May 14) final round of the 2011 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships (May 11-14) at Allendale, Mich., after recording a three-round 234-stroke total (77-79-78=234, +18) to date which ties her for 39th place.

DeBoer, the 2010-11 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman of the Year, tallied a six-over-par 78 score in Friday's (May 13) third-round action at the par 72, 6,111-yard The Meadows Golf Course.  DeBoer registered a birdie on holes six and eight to go with four pars on the front nine and accumulated five pars on the second nine holes.  She's currently tied with Nova Southeastern's Nicole Whitmore (234, +18) for 39th place.

Nova Southeastern has maintained its hold on first place from the start and presently has compiled an 857 team score (-7), which is 27 strokes in front of second-place Rollins (884, +20).  Florida Southern (885, +21) is in third place and Tarleton State (901, +37) occupies fourth.  Taylor Collins of Nova Southeastern continues to be at the top of the individual leaderboard with a 13-under-par 203 three-round score.

The 2010-11 All-GLIAC First-Team selection is one of 72 student-athletes taking part in the 12th annual national tournament and is the first Bulldog women's golf athlete to play as an individual since 2003.

DeBoer will teeoff at 8:45 a.m. (EDT) this Saturday (May 14) in the final round of the 72-hole national tournament.
