Women's Golf Finishes Fourth In Home Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team wrapped up its own Bulldog Invitational in fourth place after final round play on Sunday (Sept. 25) at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs shot a 312 in Saturday's (Sept. 24) initial round before coming back with a 318 on Sunday to conclude the tourney at 630 overall.

Grand Valley State took first place in the nine-team field with a two-round score of 588 on the strength of rounds of 292 and 296, respectively.  The Lakers were 22 shots better than second-place Findlay (610) with Gannon placing third (628).

Sophomore Emily Rohdy led the Bulldogs' team lineup by placing seventh overall with a 152, which included rounds of 78 and 74 on Sunday.  Sophomore Jacqueline DeBoer was next in line as she tied for 17th overall at 158 (81-77).

The Bulldogs also received a tie for 22nd place from senior Bryce Hetchler (75-85-160) with senior Blaize Baumgartner only a shot behind in a tie for 24th place (78-83-161).  Finally, junior Ashley Swanson tied for 29th (82-84-166) to round out the official FSU lineup.

Four FSU players also competed individually as senior Erin Fuchik finished fourth at 148 (77-71) with senior Brooke Rodes tied for 15th (75-82-157) in the field.  Senior Breezy Bernth tied for 29th (79-87-166) and freshman Taylor Gould came in tied for 50th overall (96-86-182).

A total of 61 golfers took part in the event played on the par 72 course at Katke, which measured 5,823 yards.  GVSU's Ashley Beard was the individual medalist with a 145 (74-71).

The Bulldogs will next take part in the William "Bing" Beall Classic hosted by Findlay on Oct. 9-10 at Arlington, Ohio.
