FSU Places Fifth At Division I Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team placed fifth overall of 13 competing teams at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic this past weekend (April 6-7) in Richmond, Ky.

The field of 13 teams all included Division I schools with the exception of the Bulldogs, who fired a three-round total of 943 to finish at +79 for the tournament.  FSU carded rounds of 314, 318 and 311 in the event.

Akron won the competition with a 914 total (+50) followed by Toledo (921), Morehead State (921) and Ball State (926) in the top four overall.

Ball State's Jenna Hague was the individual winner with a seven-over par score of 223 for the three rounds of action.

FSU was led by Jacqueline DeBoer, who tied for 16th overall with a 233 score on rounds of 80, 76 and 77,  She was followed by Brooke Rodes in a tie for 19th place at 234 on scores of 76, 78 and 80.

Next for the Bulldogs was Emily Rohdy in a tie for 25th at 237 and Bryce Hetchler in a tie for 33rd place at 239.  Rohdy had three-round scores of 77, 85 and 75 while Hetchler's marks were 81, 79 and 79.

Finally, Blaize Baumgartner tied for 64th overall at 254 with scores of 84, 86 and 84.

Erin Fuchik competed as an individual for the Bulldogs and tied for 37th in the field at 240 with scores of 83, 79 and 78.

The Bulldogs will next take part in the Tiffin Invitational April 15-16 in Tiffin, Ohio.
