Women's Golf Places Among Top Five Teams In Ohio Dominican Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team wrapped up action on Monday (April 8) in the Ohio Dominican NC4K Classic and came away with a fifth-place performance in Blacklick, Ohio.

The annual invitational was held at the Jefferson Country Club and hosted by ODU.

Ferris State shot a 666 (+90) in the two-day event on rounds of 336 Sunday followed by a 330 figure on Monday.

Senior Cooper Shawen and junior Jacqueline DeBoer paced the Bulldogs as both tied for 14th individually.  They each shot first-day scores of 83 before coming back with identical 80's on Monday to finish at +19 (163) for the tournament.

Junior Emily Rohdy tied for 30th overall with a 169 (+25) as she carded a 85 in round one and a 84 in the final round.  Teammate Ashley Swanson was close behind in a tie for 32nd place with a 171 (+27) as she posted scores of 85 and 86 overall.

In addition, freshman Libby Berens took part for the Bulldogs and was 35th overall with a 171 (+28) on rounds of 85 and 87.

Freshman Elizabeth Bauernfeind took part as an individual and was tied for 44th in the field at 177.  She posted a 86 in round one followed by a 91 on day two.

California (Pa.) won the event with a 637 total (+61) with Grand Valley State second (638), Findlay third (649) and Ashland fourth (655) in front of the Bulldogs.  A total of 18 teams took part in the two-round competition.

Ferris State is back in action on Saturday and Sunday (April 13-14) as the Bulldogs return to Ohio to compete in the Bowling Green State Dolores Black Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio.
