Ferris State Women's Golf Among Top Three Teams For Fourth-Straight Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team had another strong showing on Monday (March 31) as the Bulldogs placed third overall in the NC4K College Classic held at Jefferson Country Club in Blacklick, Ohio.

The 18-hole event, which was shortened to a single round of play after snow and heavy rain cancelled Sunday's opening round, represented the fourth consecutive tournament in four events this season for the Bulldogs in which they've placed among the top three teams.

A total of 18 schools competed in the single-day event won by Grand Valley State with a 300 team score. Northwood shot a 316 to place second followed by FSU at 319 for the round.

Ferris State senior Emily Rohdy and sophomore Elizabeth Bauernfeind paced the Bulldogs as both tied for 10th individually with an 18-hole score of 79 on the par 72 course.

Next came sophomore Libby Berens, who tied for 17th in the field with an 80, followed by senior Jacqueline Mulder in a share of 21st place with an 81 score.

Finally, senior Ashley Swanson tied for 40th overall with an 84 on the day.

FSU's Kelsey McKinley, a freshman, competed as an individual in the tournament and fired a 82 score good for a share of 24th in the field.

Three players shot an even-par 72 to tie atop the leaderboard with the playoff won by GVSU's Kelly Hartigan on the first extra hole for medalist honors.

Ferris State is back in action on Sunday and Monday, April 6-7, as the Bulldogs compete the IPFW Spring Classic hosted by Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, Ind.
