Ferris State Women's Golf Finishes Fourth At 2015 GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team wrapped up the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships with a fourth-place overall finish on Sunday (April 26) as final round play wrapped up in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldogs improved their overall team score for the second-straight day as they shot 313 on Sunday in the last 18 holes of action in the 54-hole event at the Findlay Country Club. FSU carded a three-round 955 team score on the par 72 course measuring 6,007 yards.

After the Bulldogs shot a 325 figure on day one Friday, they bettered their second each day with a 317 total on Saturday prior to Sunday's final 313 mark.

Grand Valley State held onto its lead to win the event with a 912 team score followed by host Findlay at 931 and Ashland at 939 among the top three teams in the 11-school tournament.

Bulldog sophomore Libby Berens paced FSU with a fifth-place finish as she shot 231 overall. After a first-round 80, she came back with a two-over 74 on Saturday and then shot 77 in Sunday's final round of action.

Junior Elizabeth Bauernfeind placed tied for 16th overall at 240 with a final-round total of 79 for her best figure of the tournament. She previously shot 81 in the first round and 80 in the second round.

Sophomore Kelsey McKinley placed tied for 19th as FSU had three competitors finish in the top 20 overall. She posted a 242 figure with rounds of 83, 83 and 76 over the three days, respectively.

Behind McKinley was sophomore Jordan Duvall in 26th place with a 247 total. Duvall shot an 86 in the last round Sunday to go with her previous scores of 81 and 80 on Friday and Saturday.

Finally, freshman Gianna Dela Cruz came in tied for 27th at 248 on rounds of 84, 83 and 81 over the three days. She bettered her score each day of the tournament to helpd FSU finish 11 shots ahead of fifth-place Northwood in the field.

Official participants for the NCAA Division II Championships will be announced via ncaa.com next week with the NCAA-II East Regional set for May 3-5 in Chicago, Ill.
