Ferris State Moves Up One Spot To Fifth After Day Two At GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team climbed one spot to fifth place after day two action on Saturday (April 23) at the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships held at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale.

Ferris State shot a 326 team score in Saturday's 18 holes of action on the par 72 course, which came on the heels of a 329 mark in Friday's first round, putting FSU at 655 overall. Each team will play a total of 54 holes.

Host GVSU continues to lead the field with a 587 score followed by Findlay (614) and Ashland (625) in the top three overall of the 12-team tournament on the 6,095-yard course.

Junior Kelsey McKinley continues to lead FSU as she is tied for 15th place overall at 159 for the tournament after carding an 80 in the second round. She previously shot a 79 in the opening round of action.

Senior Libby Berens and freshman Destiny Lawson are both tied for 17th individually with 162 totals. Berens, who shot 84 on day one, came back with the squad's low score on Saturday with a 78 while Lawson shot her second-straight 81 score.

Junior Jordan Duvall shot an 87 in round two and is tied for 37th overall at 172 following her first-round 85 on Friday.

Finally, sophomore Morgan Zloto is tied for 39th in the field with a 173 total. She posted an 85 on Friday followed by an 88 in Saturday's action.

Action concludes with final round play set for Sunday (April 24) at The Meadows.

Ashland, Ferris State, Findlay, Grand Valley State, Lake Superior State, Malone, Northern Michigan, Northwood, Ohio Dominican, Tiffin, Walsh and Wayne State are all competing in the event.

Following the GLIAC Championships, official participants for the NCAA Division II Championships will be announced via ncaa.com next week with the NCAA-II East Regional set for May 2-4 in Springfield, Ill.
