Bulldog Women's Golf Starts Season With Sixth-Place Finish At SVSU Spring Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad began its spring campaign with a sixth-place overall team finish over the weekend at the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational, which was held at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Ky.

In its first tournament of the spring, the Bulldogs shot a 340 total in Saturday's first 18 holes of action before improving by 18 strokes to notch a 322 total in Sunday's final round. FSU finished with a two-day 662 score in the event.

Grand Valley State won the team title with a 630 figure followed by Ashland (633) and Northwood (641) in the top three overall. A total of 19 teams were in the tournament.

Ferris State's Destiny Lawson placed tied for ninth indivdually with a 159 score on rounds of 80 and 79 over the two days of competition.

Behind Lawson was senior Elizabeth Bauernfeind, who shot a 161 total to place 15th overall. Her first round score was an 80 followed by an 81 in round two.

FSU's Morgan Zloto fired a 174 score on rounds of 94 and 80 to finish tied for 48th with Katelin Randolph placing tied for 54th with a 177. She shot a 95 in round one followed by an 82 in the final round.

Finally, Jordan Duvall came in tied for 60th with a 178 figure on rounds of 86 and 92 in the 36-hole event.

The Bulldogs' Olivia Pizii competed as an individual and finished in a share of 54th place at 177 on rounds of 91 and 86 while Izzy Flack also competed individually and placed 94th with scores of 101 and 91 for a 192 finish.

Ferris State is next slated to compete in the NC4K Classic to be hosted by Ohio Dominican University on April 2-3 in Blacklick, Ohio.
