Ferris State Women's Golf Wraps Up Busy Ohio Stretch At Walsh Cavalier Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad wrapped up a busy slate in Ohio with a 10th-place finish at the Cavalier Classic hosted by Walsh University as final round competition concluded on Tuesday (April 10) in Canton, Ohio.

The Bulldogs, who played four consecutive days at two tournaments in Ohio, shot a 668 team total in the two-round Cav Classic held Monday and Tuesday at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton. FSU shot a 328 figure in the first 18 holes of action followed by a 340 in the final round.

Tuesday's final round was impacted by storms and featured a late start, but the 12 competing teams were able to finish the round following the delay.

The tourney title was captured by Grand Valley State with a 608 figure followed by Northern Michigan and Ashland, which tied for second place with 622 scores.

Ferris State was led by Morgan Zloto, who placed tied for 12th individually with a 157 total. She shot an opening round 80 on the par 72 course before coming back with a 77 over the final 18 holes.

Meanwhile, senior Elizabeth Bauernfeind fired a 166 for a share of 33rd place. Her first-round 77 mark was followed by an 89 in the final round.

Next in line for FSU was Gianna Dela Cruz, who came in 44th at 172 for the tournament. She carded an 87 in round one before shooting an 85 in the last round.

The Bulldogs' Mari Suokko finished tied for 48th at 174 on rounds of 84 and 90 on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

Finally, Katelin Randolph placed tied for 56th as she shot identical rounds of 89 each day to finish with a 178 total.

Ferris State will next be in action April 21-23 as FSU takes part in the 2017 GLIAC Championships to be held in Nashport, Ohio.
