Women's Golf Ties For 7th In Rain Shortened Ashland Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad finished in a tie for seventh place overall as rain shortened the Ashland University Invitational to a single day event this weekend at the Country Club of Ashland and the Ashland Golf Club in Ohio.

The Bulldogs shot a 327 team figure in Saturday's (April 14) opening round before rain forced the cancellation of round two on Sunday.

Overall, a total of 15 teams from across the region took part in the event played on a par 72 course measuring 5,840 yards.

FSU's Katelin Randolph paced the Bulldogs with a 78 score and finished in a tie for 10th place overall.

Behind Randolph was freshman Baylee Thompson, who shared 13th place with a 79 score.

Ferris State's Mari Suokko came in with an 83 and tied for 39th in the field with Izzy Flack carding an 87 for a share of 69th place overall.

The Bulldogs' Margo Brown shot an 88 on Saturday and placed tied for 73rd while Shayna Schneider competed as an individual and came in tied for 80th with a 92 figure.

Ferris State will comepte in the 2018 GLIAC Championships this Friday thru Sunday, April 20-22, in Nashport, Ohio.
