FSU Women's Golf Finishes 12th At Walsh Cav Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad took part in the Cav Classic hosted by Walsh University on Saturday (April 13) at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio. Due to weather, the event was held as a 36-hole single day event.

The Bulldogs finished 12th overall in the event with a two-round total of 685. FSU shot a 341 first round figure before closing with a 344 total in round two.

Freshman Mackenzie Dale paced the Bulldogs as she placed tied for 16th in the field with a 158 score. After a first-round 78 mark, she came back with an 80 over the final 18 holes of action.

FSU's Elaina Derose placed tied for 40th at 170 for the tourney as she notched an 84 in the opening round followed by a 86 in the second round.

Ferris State's Mari Suokko finished tied for 56th individually with a score of 90 in the first round and an 89 in round two for a 179 total.

Meanwhile, Margo Brown wound up tied for 62nd in the field at 183 on rounds of 94 and 89 with Shayna Schneider closing out the Bulldog lineup in 66th place. She shot an 89 in the first round and a 99 in the second for a 188 figure.

The Bulldogs' Emma Polski also competed as an individual and shared 62nd place at 183 on rounds of 97 and 86 over the two rounds of competition.

Ferris State will compete in the 2019 GLIAC Championships set for March 19-21 in Augusta, Mich.
