Ferris State Women's Golf Closes Action At Findlay Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team completed its second tournament of the week with a ninth-place overall team finish on Tuesday (March 23) at the Findlay Invitational, which was contested at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.

The Bulldogs hit the links for the fourth consecutive day and wrapped up the two-day Findlay Invite by carding a 945 overall team score to finish in the middle of the 18-team pack. The event was won by Grand Valley State with a 884 team finish followed by Findlay (887) and Missouri-St. Louis (904) in the top three overall.

Ferris State shot a first-round 313 score on Monday and, after darkness halted round two, came back on Tuesday to card a 314 for the second round followed by a 318 in the final 18 holes of action at the 54-hole contest.

FSU was led by Alayna Eldred, who placed tied for 20th in the field with a 231 figure. She shot rounds of 77, 78 and 76 in the event.

The Bulldogs' second finisher, Elaina DeRose, notched a 76 in round one followed by a 77 in round two and an 81 in the final round to close with a 234 figure, which was good for a share of 31st place individually.

Ferris Sate's Abby Grevel wound up tied for 59th in the field at 245 for the tournament, posting scores of 84, 80 and 81 overall.

Meanwhile, Lauren Kempf placed 85th with a 260 total as she shot back-to-back 90 scores in the first two rounds before lowering her score by 10 strokes with an 80 in the final round.

Finally, the Bulldogs' Mackenzie Dale was 100th overall with a 155 total as she shot a 76 in round one and a 79 in round two before not registering a score in the final round.

The Bulldogs will return to action on April 5-6 at the NC4K Classic in Blacklick, Ohio.
