Ferris State Women's Golf Sits Fifth Overall After Day One At Walsh Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad shot a 316 team score and is currently fifth overall following round one action at the Walsh Invitational on Sunday (April 11) in Canton, Ohio.

The Bulldogs finished the opening 18 holes of action at +18 for the event and sit fifth going into Monday's final round of action in the 12-team event being held at the Glenmoor Country Club.

Overall, Grand Valley State posted a 298 in round one to garner the lead with nationally 12th-ranked Findlay only a stroke behind at 299 for the first round. Wayne State was third (304) with Malone fourth (311) in front of the Bulldogs.

The Bulldog duo of Alayna Eldred and Elaina DeRose both rank tied for 14th in the field individually as each shot a 78 in the first round.

FSU's Danielle Staskowski and Mackenzie Dale are both tied for 27th in the field following opening round scores of 80 each.

Finally, Hope Thebo carded a 88 in the first round and is tied for 46th on the leaderboard going into the final round of action.

The event is the final competition for the Bulldogs prior to the GLIAC Championships set for April 16-18 in Augusta, Mich.

Round two tee times start on Monday at 9 a.m. (ET) on the 5,965-yard course.
