FIRST PLACE! Ferris State Women's Golf Captures Team Title At NC4K Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team came away with its first team championship of the year as the Bulldogs won the NC4K Classic held on Monday and Tuesday, April 7-8, in Grove City, Ohio.

The Bulldogs shot a two-round 608 team figure to beat runner-up Grand Valley State by 10 strokes in the 16-team event held at the Pinnacle Golf Club. The tournament was hosted by Ohio Dominican University.

FSU fired a first-round 307 score in Monday's first 18 holes of play before closing with an impressive 301 team score in the final round on Tuesday.

Additionally, Ferris State also had the event's individual winner as the Bulldogs' Lizzie Anderson captured her first career tournament win by shooting a six-over total of 150 overall with back-to-back 75 scores in each of the two rounds of competition. She topped runner-up Cloe Mateo of Gannon by a single shot.

The Bulldog duo of Taylor Musselman and Ashley Thomasma also both placed in the top 10 individually as they tied for eighth place in the field with 155 figures for the two rounds. Musselman shot a 77 in round one and a 78 in the second round while Thomasma carded a first-round 75 and finished with an 80 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Kylie Walker came in 12th in the field at 157 for the tournament on scores of 80 on Monday and 77 on Tuesday.

Veteran Kamryn Shannon tied for 15th along with FSU's Susie Gietl with both shooting 36-hole totals of 158 in the event. Shannon came back with a final-round 74 after notching an 84 in round one. Gietl posted a 75 in the last round following her first-round 83 figure.

Ferris State will be back in action on April 13-14 at the Missouri-St. Louis Spring Invitational in St. Louis, Mo.
