FSU Women's Golf Opens NCAA D2 National Championships With 314 Team Score On Day One

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team opened action in the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships on Tuesday (May 13) with a 314 team score in Boulder City, Nev.

The Bulldogs, who are making their first appearance in the NCAA D2 National Finals in 16 years, presently sit 18th overall going into the second round of play in the 54-hole stroke play portion of the championships.

The NCAA D2 Championships are being contested at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Nevada and feature the country's top 18 squads. FSU is one of five teams competing from the East Regional after placing third overall in Allendale last week.

The day one leaders are both Cal-State St. Mary's and Anderson (S.C.), which both notched a 280 team figure. Flagler sits third (281).

Ferris State was led in the first round by Kylie Walker, who shared 59th place with a round of 75 on day one. Ashley Thomasma shot a 76 and is tied for 69th while Lizzie Anderson notched an 80 and is tied for 90th overall.

FSU's Kamryn Shannon came in with a 83 in round one and is currently tied for 95th while Susie Gietl notched an 85 and is 98th in the field.

Day two play is set for Wednesday (May 14) with the final round of stroke play on Thursday (May 15). The top eight teams after Thursday's round will advance to the head-to-head quarterfinals starting on Friday (May 16).

This year's trip to the national championship finals represents FSU's 10th in school history and first since 2009.
