Ferris State Women's Golf Lowers Score By 29 Strokes On Day Two At NCAA National Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team lowered its score by 29 strokes on day two Wednesday (May 14) at the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships in Boulder City, Nev.

After notching a 314 team figure in the first round, the Bulldogs came back with a 285 score in round two of play in the 54-hole event. FSU sits tied for 16th overall on the leaderboard with a 599 total heading into the final round of play at the stroke play championships.

FSU will play its final round on Thursday (May 16) at the D2 National Championships at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The top eight teams following round three will advance to the head-to-head medal match play national quarterfinals.

Cal-State San Marcos moved to the top of the leaderboard at 564 overall with Dallas Baptist second (567) and Anderson third (569).

FSU's Kylie Walker is currently tied for 36th overall, shooting a first-round 75 followed by a 71 in round two for a 146 total thru 36 holes.

The Bulldogs' Ashley Thomasma is currently tied for 67th place at 150 overall. She notched a 76 in the first round and came back with a 74 in the second round. Teammate Lizzie Anderson is also tied for 67th with a 150 figure, carding an impressive 70 on Wednesday after her opening round score of 80 on day one.

Ferris State's Kamryn Shannon is tied for 83rd at 153 overall as she also shot a 70 in the second round after previously coming in with an 83 in the opening round.

Finally, Susie Gietl sits 92nd on the leaderboard at 163 for the tourney, recording a 78 in day two action after starting the event with an 85 in the first round.

The final round of play is set for Thursday.

The Bulldogs are making their first appearance in the national finals in 16 years. This year's trip to the national championship finals represents FSU's 10th in school history and first since 2009.
