Ferris State Soccer Wraps Up 2019 Slate As Bulldogs Narrowly Miss NCAA Tourney Berth

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer squad wrapped up its fall slate as the Bulldogs narrowly missed receiving the program's second NCAA Division II Tournament berth when the national organization unveiled its postseason selections in a live online announcement on Monday evening.

The Bulldogs had been ninth in the final regular-season NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings announced last week following the conclusion of the regular-season. A total of eight teams were chosen for the regional field.

This fall, the Bulldogs compiled a 13-5-2 overall record under first-year head coach Greg Henson while placing in the top four in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) with a 5-3-1 league record. Four of the Bulldogs' five losses this year came against teams that were ranked near the top of the region this season.

Along with the top four league finish, the Bulldogs also reached the GLIAC Tournament for the 10th consecutive year and earned the right to host a quarterfinal-round home contest.

The Bulldogs had three first-team All-GLIAC choices in sophomore forward Pia Nagel (Karlsruhe, Germany) along with junior midfielder Bri Rogers (Livonia) and senior defender Tia VanSuilichem (Caledonia).

Along with the two first-team picks, Bulldog junior forward Mackenzie Dawes (DeWitt) garnered All-GLIAC Second Team accolades with junior Maddie Dickens (DeWitt) attaining honorable mention recognition in voting by the league's member head coaches.

A total of 26 of the Bulldogs' 33 squad members are eligible to return in 2020 as FSU had only seven seniors this fall.
