Soccer Announces Signing Of Nine Players For 2020 Season

Big Rapids, Mich. – Ferris State University women's soccer Head Coach Greg Henson announced his incoming class on Wednesday (Dec. 3) following National Signing Day.

"I'm very excited about this class as whole and equally eager to get them on-campus this fall!  One of the priorities of any recruiting class is to get top in-state talent and I also wanted to branch out to extended our brand nationwide," Henson said."The fact that we were able to do both in year one was outstanding."

The class includes nine talented prep recruits who will join Ferris State for the fall 2020 season following the most successful two-year period in program history. Ferris State finished 13-5-2 with a trip to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semi-Final and narrowly missing out on a second consecutive NCAA Tournament bid in 2019.

The 2019 incoming class includes a large contingent of out-of-state recruits:

Kendra Brown - Dewitt, Michigan Jaguars

Haley Golembiewski – Romeo, Michigan Hawks

Sarah Katinas – Novi, Michigan – Michigan Jaguars

Ally McMahon – San Diego, California – Albion SC

Kortlyn (Hoku) Schwenke – Chandler, Arizona – Arizona Arsenal

Nikki Oelker – Broomfield, Colorado – Broomfield Blast

Sydney Stones – Chandler, Arizona – Arizona Arsenal 

Ashlyn Wisser – Richland, Michigan – Kingdom SC

Sophie Wolf – Seattle, Washington – Seattle United

Kendra Brown - (Winger - Dewitt, Michigan)

Played Prep soccer for Jamal Mubarak at Dewitt High School...Helped Dewitt to a 23-1 overall record and District Championship....posted 12 goals with seven assists for 31 points as a senior...had 150 career points for Dewitt...played for the same program that produced current Bulldogs Mackenzie Dawes and Maddie Dickens...Was a first team All-CAAC Selection and multiple time selection to the Greater Lansing State Journal Dream Team...Member of the All State Academic Team and Michigan All-State Team...Elected First Team All-League and Conference while at Dewitt...played club soccer for Michigan Jaguars under Dan Delzochio.

Haley Golembiewski – (Goalkeeper – Romeo, Michigan)

Played prep soccer for Trevor Foster at Romeo High School…helped Romeo to a 2019 MAC White Division Championship…posted a 10-6-3 record in goal for the Bulldogs with 10 shutouts and a 0.94 goals against average…2018 and 2019 MAC All-Academic Team Member and 2019 Scholar Athlete…played club soccer for Michigan Hawks East under Joe Carolan and Rob Euashka…intends to major in Elementary Education.

Sarah Katinas – (Outside Back – Novi, Michigan)

Played prep soccer for Todd Pheiffer at Novi High School…was teammates with current Bulldog Jessie Bandyk…helped the Wildcats to back-to-back MHSAA Division I State Championships, including a 28-0-1 record with 23 shutouts in 2019….Was a 2019 All-Conference selection and Scholar Athlete Award Winner…started at outside back and had six assists for six points in 2019…had nine points as an outside wing on three goals and three assists as a junior on the 2018 State Championship team…played club soccer for Michigan Jaguars under Dan Dalzochio…intends to major in pre-medical/biology at Ferris State. 

Ally McMahon – (Center Midfielder – San Diego, California)

Played prep soccer for Joel Waymire at Christian High School in San Diego… was a four year varsity starter for CHS and a 2019 All-League Selection…helped CHS to a 16-6-2 record and a Division 3 Semi-Final appearance in the California Interscholastic Federation in 2018…started 61 games over three seasons for CHS…played club soccer for Albion SC under Chris Sorg…intends to major in biology/pre physical therapy at Ferris State.

Kortlyn (Hoku) Schwenke (Outside Back – Chandler, Arizona)

 Played prep soccer for John Roberts at Perry High School in Chandler, Arizona…helped Perry to 2018 and 2019 6A State Runner Up finishes with a 22-1-3 record in 2019 and a 22-3-0 record in 2018 as a junior…scored four goals with two assists for nine points over her junior and senior years from the back end…played her club soccer for Summer Anderson with Arizona Arsenal SC, where she was teammates with fellow incoming freshman Sydney Stones…intends to major in nursing at Ferris State.

Nikki Oelker (Winger – Broomfield, Colorado) 

Played prep soccer for Jim Davidson at Broomfield High School in Colorado…helped Broomfield to a 2019 Front Range League Championship and a number one ranking in 5A women's soccer, as well as a 5A State Runner Up finish in 2018 as a junior…Was a three-time Academic All-State recipient…had three goals and 11 assists for 17 points as a junior in 2019…played club soccer for Megan Remec and Broomfield Blast 01G Prestige…intends to major in nursing at Ferris State.

Sydney Stones (Winger - Chandler, Arizona)

Played prep soccer for Eddie Hertsenberg at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona…helped Hamilton to a second place conference finish and 13-7-2 record…finished with five goals and seven assists for 17 points as a senior…played her club soccer for Arizona Arsenal FC under Summer Anderson, where she was teammates with fellow incoming freshman Kortlyn (Hoku) Schwenke…intends to major in mechanical engineering at Ferris State. 

Ashlyn Wisser (Outside Back - Richland, Michigan)

Played prep soccer for Jeff Corstange at Gull Lake High School…helped Gull Lake to a 17-3-1 record as a junior and a District Championship…helped Gull Lake to a 20-1-1 record and regional championship in 2018…was an All-State First Team Member…had 15 goals and 23 assists for 58 points as a junior…finished with 128 points in 64 games over three years for Gull Lake with 33 goals, 57 assists…was a three year varsity starter…also made…All-District, All-Conference, and All-Regional First Teams…played club soccer for Joe Fuld of Kingdom Soccer Club...intends to major in health science at Ferris State.

Sophie Wolf (Center Back – Seattle, Washington)

Played prep soccer for Stanley Homes at Roosevelt High School in Seattle…helped Roosevelt to a 14-2-3 record as a senior…helped Roosevelt to 2016-2018 League Championships…was a two-time first team selection in the Metro Division in Seattle…two-year captain at Roosevelt…has 19 points in four years as a center back for Roosevelt, including three goals and two assists for eight points as a senior…played club soccer for Brooke Reese of Seattle United…intends to major in biology with a focus in physical therapy at Ferris State.
