Big Rapids, Mich. - A pair of Ferris State University women's soccer student-athletes have garnered 2019 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's Scholar All-Region recognition as junior forward Bri Rogers (Livonia) and senior defender Tia VanSuilichem (Caledonia) were honored.

Rogers claimed All-North/Central Region Scholar First Team accolades with VanSuilichem tabbed to the second team.

To be eligible for Scholar All-Region recognition, student-athletes must meet the following criteria: hold a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career, started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contributed to their team, be nominated by the head coach of current College Services member institution, and be a junior or above in academic standing or, if a transfer student, in their second year at school.

The Scholar All-America Teams are scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Both Rogers and VanSuilichem were chosen as All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First Team picks this year. In addition, they went on to claim United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region honors on the field as Rogers was a first-team pick and VanSuilichem a second-team choice. Additionally, Rogers also earned Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Region accolades this year.

Rogers appeared in all 20 games and totaled 18 points on six goals and six assists as FSU's third-leading scorer this season. She also notched a game-winner and had two penalty kick goals for the Bulldogs. She was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

Finally, VanSuilichem saw action in all 20 contests and recorded three goals and four assists for 10 total points in addition to compiling 35 shots with 15 on goal this campaign.

This fall, the Bulldogs compiled a 13-5-2 overall record under first-year head coach Greg Henson while placing in the top four in the GLIAC with a 5-3-1 league record. Four of the Bulldogs' five losses this year came against teams that were ranked near the top of the region this season.

Along with the top four league finish, the Bulldogs also reached the GLIAC Tournament for the 10th consecutive year and earned the right to host a quarterfinal-round home contest.

A total of 26 of the Bulldogs' 33 squad members are eligible to return in 2020 as FSU had only seven seniors this fall.
