Ferris State's Grace VerHage Tabbed As Academic All-America Choice

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior forward Grace VerHage (Otsego), who helped lead the Bulldogs to their first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Championship this past fall, was recently named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Team.

VerHage was one of 11 student-athletes tabbed to the CoSIDA Division II Academic All-America Second Team as determined by the nation's sports information directors.

Overall, she was one of only two representatives from a GLIAC school named to any of the three Academic All-America squads.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-America® program.

This fall, VerHage tallied a team-high 35 points on a squad-best 13 goals and nine assists in 22 contests for the Bulldogs. She also had a team-high 96 shots with 51 on goal and recorded three game-winners for FSU, which advanced to the NCAA Tournament for only the second time in school history.

VerHage was a second-team All-GLIAC honoree during the fall campaign. She helped lead FSU to a 15-3-4 overall record this fall, which included a second-place 9-2-4 conference mark. The Bulldogs also captured the program's first-ever GLIAC Tournament Championship, stopping eventual national champion Grand Valley State's 14-year title streak, en route to earning the GLIAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
