FSU Women's Tennis Improves To 4-0 Overall

Big Rapids, Mich. - It was a highly-successful weekend for the Ferris State University women's tennis team as the Bulldogs wrapped up a three-day road swing with a 6-3 victory over Wayne State on Sunday (Sept. 12) in Detroit, Mich.

The win was the third in as many days away from home for the Bulldogs, who improved to 4-0 overall and in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.

FSU built a 2-1 lead following doubles play with wins at the number two and three flights in the lineup.

In singles action, WSU managed to post victories at the second and fourth spot, but FSU won the other four flights to register the win.

Both the fifth and sixth singles positions went to third-sets, but Ferris claimed both of them by idential 6-4 scores in the final set.

The Bulldogs will take part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships next Friday to Sunday (Sept. 17-19) in Jenison, Mich.

Following the ITA regional, the Bulldogs will resume conference play with a  key GLIAC encounter versus defending conference champion and rival Northwood on Sept. 21 at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.  Match time is set for 3 p.m. (EDT).
