Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team opened action in the 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament on Friday (Sept. 21) at Jenison (Mich.) High School.

The Bulldogs' lone first round winner in Flight A singles competition was senior Tabitha Simpson, who topped Katy Lehenbauer of William Jewell by a 6-3, 6-4 margin.  She later fell to Drury's (Mo.) Natalia Kozel in the round of 32 in a three-setter with scores of 6-4, 5-7 and 11-9.

FSU's Ana Jan lost her opening match in the round of 64 to Wayne State's Anne Li Briand by a 6-2, 6-2 count.  She came back to beat Regina Camberos of Ohio Dominican 6-1, 6-1 in first round consolation play.
