Bulldog Women's Tennis Falls To West Michigan Rival GVSU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team came out on the short end of a 8-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road decision on Wednesday (Oct. 3) versus West Michigan rival Grand Valley State.

The host Lakers swept the doubles round and took five of the six singles flights in topping the Bulldogs at the Ramblewood Tennis Club in Grandville.

With the win, GVSU improved to 7-1 overall and in league play this campaign while FSU fell to 7-4 overall and in the GLIAC.

The Lakers won all three doubles matches, which included a close 9-8 (3-0) decision at the number three position.

FSU's lone win came in number two singles competition where senior Tabitha Simpson defeated the Lakers' Leah Dancz by a 7-6 (4-0), 1-6, 10-6 margin.  

Two of Grand Valley State's five singles wins came in three-setters.

The Bulldogs are next in action on Oct. 10 when they play host to Grand Rapids Community College at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.
